Widdrington DP Grading Plant

The existing opencast site was scheduled for extension and the existing structures required demolition to facilitate the next phase of development.

The structures comprised a number of conveyors/crushers and screening units.

Works included ;

- Inspection and removal of all coal dust and debris prior to the initiation of demolition.

- Salvage by O’Brien crawler crane of the seven existing conveyor units for subsequent reuse ; removal and transport undertaken by O’Brien Group.

- Demolition of the tower structures by controlled cut and pull techniques.

- Processing of all steel structures on site by hydraulic shear prior to transport off site for final reprocessing.

- Collapse fill and make safe underground structures.
