| Yesterday, it was the architrave in a church hall in Plymouth.
Tomorrow that same piece of reclaimed timber will begin a new life in Sunderland as a
triple wardrobe. O'Briens Pine specialise in handcrafting traditional pine furniture
from timber salvaged from old schools, churches and hospitals. |
Over 25 years ago, Gordon O'Brien founded O'Briens and Sons Demolition Ltd
and quickly became established as a highly professional business demolishing old buildings
across the country. Each demolition provided considerable salvage opportunities. Soon the
company's 13 acre site in East Boldon, near Sunderland, became home to reclaimed timber,
slates, cobblestones, cast iron radiators, telephone boxes and other items too numerous to
mention. |
|
| For many years, O'Brien's sold their reclaimed timber to
furniture manufacturers in the Midlands and the South. Realising that there was a gap in
the local market for high quality pine furniture, Mary O'Reilly, daughter of the company's
founder, established and now manages O'Brien's Pine, selling tables,
drawers, kitchen furniture - in fact anything the customer wants. Made to measure
furniture is a key feature of O'Brien's Pine, offering the opportunity to own unique
pieces, different to the 'glossy finish' pine which is more commonplace these days.
With such excellent products, O'Brien's are worth seeking out. |
