Pallion Dockyard , River Wear
The site is still very active but concentrates on fabrication and associated work, one dockside crane remained ; something of an icon this was the last shipyard dockside crane of its type on the Wear. As the crane was deemed to be surplus to requirements the client asked the Obrien specialist crane dismantling team to carefully plan the project from start to completion.
Due to the close proximity of buildings and adjacent river a small mobile crane was deemed to be the only option. Due to the ,limitations of the mobile crane the dockside crane was dismantled taking off small sections at a time in a piecemeal progressive manner.
During all works our trained slingers and lift supervisors ensured the loads were fully secure and within the limits of the crane/tackle .
